3Ms Youth Partnership
The 3Ms Youth Partnership has developed various services and activities for young people in Morningside, Merchiston and Marchmont since Lucy Howie, was employed to develop a youth programme in the community.
Below is a brief overview of some of the past and present clubs and activities; Holiday programmes, youth clubs and targeted work.

HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES
·        3Ms Easter and Summer Activity Programme
Activities, trips and fun days are available to all members of the 3Ms clubs, and those who live, hang out or meet in the area. Activities include, gorge walking, trampolining, quad biking, power boating and loads more. The Easter and Summer programmes in 2006 and 2007 were attended by over 120 young people from various local schools, both primary and secondary. The new programme for Summer 2008 activities will be out in mid May.

YOUTH CLUBS
·        Wednesday Youth Club, Christ Church Hall
 S3-S4, 7-9pm, 50p

·        Tuesday Youth Club, Marchmont St Giles Church Center, Inchcolm Hall
S1-S2, 6-8pm, 50p
These are informal youth clubs which provide a safe place for young people to meet friends, play table tennis, pool, dance workshops, do crafts, have theme nights and seasonal trips.

·        Open all hours @ Warrender swim centre
S1-S6, 7-9pm, £1
This is a sports orientated youth club in which activities include swimming, gym, chill out zone (with pool table and playstation) and often trips to other sports centres to try new activities.

TARGETTED SHORT TERM YOUTH WORK
·        Young Persons Kool Club (YPKC), Christ church hall
S1-S2, 3.45-5.15pm, free as referred to the club by schools
The club was for young people who were finding the social side of secondary school a little overwhelming and would benefit from having fun with a small group of people of a similar age to give them the confidence they need to settle in.

·        Transition Groups 2006 & 2007
The transition group ran in 2006 in partnership with South Edinburgh Working Together (with pupils moving from South Morningside and Bruntsfield primary to Boroughmuir High school) and in 2007 with Canongate Youth Project (with pupils moving from James Gillespies and Sciennes primary to James Gillespies High school) to deliver a programme of weekly activities which would ease the transition of primary to secondary. This will be starting again with a new referred group in April 2008.
Activities in this group included treasure hunts round the school, taster sessions, question and answer sessions with current pupils and guidance staff and many more.

·        Cool Down Crew
The Cooldown Crew was an intensive one-week diversionary programme in partnership with Lothian and Borders Fire Service and South Working Together, which took place on the 19th November 2007 with 10 young people from James Gillespies High School. Based on Fire and Rescue Service activities (ladder climbing, pump drills etc) this unique experiential learning opportunity encourages teamwork, builds self confidence and good citizenship, as well as looking at the potential consequences of anti-social behaviour which affects the Fire and Rescue Service and the greater community.

·        One to One Work
Young people who are struggling to deal with issues which are having a major impact on home or school life are referred to Lucy for individual work which takes place term and non term time.

In conclusion, the 3Ms Youth Partnership engages with over 80 young people in the Marchmont, Morningside and Merchiston areas each week giving them a safe and non judgemental environment to make friends, develop in confidence and access support when needed.
