About Our Unit
Meadows Explorer Scout Unit is for 14 to 18 year olds who relish a bit of adventure and fun.  Our main base is the Inchcolm Hall at Marchmont St. Giles, but you’ll often find us outside or elsewhere in the area getting up to all sorts of activities.  Our programme can include everything from mountain-boarding and rock climbing to supporting worthy causes; learning traditional skills and working towards awards to trying out the more extreme sports.  We particularly like getting away for weekend camps and events, both in the local area and around the country.

Meadows Explorers, is fairly new… we only started up after Easter 2008!  But we already have over 20 Explorers and a young, active and experienced leader team, to support the Explorers in the activities that they want to do.  We welcome anyone who wants to become an Explorer Scout, whether you are male or female, whether you’ve been in Scouts before or not.

If you’d like to join, or come along to visit and try us out, get in touch with Ross on 077...  or via email meadowsexplorers@googlemail.com

More About the Scout Association
The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 450,000 young people aged 6-25.  Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries.

Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential.  In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

In the UK, there are five youth sections: Beavers (6 to 8), Cubs (8 to 10½), Scouts (10½ to 14), Explorers (14 to 18) and Scout Network (18 to 25).  Each section tailors its programme to create a progressive programme of activities, which challenge them and give them increasing responsibility.
