Our Mission Statement
As part of GOD's family, we are open to all. We seek to share His love in worship, welcome, friendship and service.
The last few years have been an exciting time for the community of Marchmont St Giles' Parish Church, this time was marked by the planning and construction of our new Church Centre which gives us facilities fit for the needs of the 21st Century. Following the formal opening of the Centre by the Very Reverend Dr Alan MacDonald, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in September 2006 we have the seen the Church Centre used by a wide variety of community and family groups for all manner of events.
Our ongoing desire for one of the uses of the Church Centre is the provision of care for those affected by Dementia. According to the last census the area icluding the Parish of Marchmont St Giles has the oldest population of any part of Edinburgh. There is a need for care and support but as yet no provision locally. We hope to be able to fill this need, with your help we can work to improve the lives of those affected by Dementia.
In concert with the Eric Liddle Centre we host a Youth Club for S1 and S2 students. These years, in particular can be difficut times for young people as they move in to Senior School and face the new challenges involved there and the demands of teenage life.
As part of our outreach to the community Butterflies Cafe opened in April 2007 serving a range of snacks, light meals and beverages.
We want Marchmont St Giles' Church and Church centre to be a place, where everyone feels they are part of and can be proud of, and use it to its fullest potential.
We hope there is something for you, we hope to see you there.
